For the safety of you and your loved ones when driving, brakes are essential. You can confirm that it may be a very unpleasant experience if you have ever experienced braking issues. You can safeguard your passengers and yourself by getting your brakes tested twice a year. You can also save money by identifying any issues before they become too expensive.

You and your passengers may be kept safe by having your brakes inspected for wear and damage twice a year. Furthermore, by identifying any damage early on, it will help you save money.

What do we check during our inspection of your brakes?

The central component of your car’s braking system, the master cylinder retains brake fluid while it’s not being sent to the brakes via the brake lines. Brake fluid delivery is impeded and brake pads are destroyed if brake fluid leaks due to worn out master cylinders, brake lines that are clogged or broken. We will check the master cylinder’s condition when AutoClinic inspects your brakes.

The brake fluid itself may get tainted or unclean as it attracts moisture that causes corrosion and gathers other debris. Too much heat might also cause it to degrade. Clean brake fluid is typically transparent or slightly yellow, while dirty brake fluid can be dark or even black. Old and unclean brake fluid can cause inherent harm to braking systems. At Elgin Auto Clinic, we will examine the cleanliness of your brake fluid during your brake inspection.

The brake lines are connected to the master cylinder using a combination valve that blends metering and proportioning valves. This valve controls the pressure on the front and back wheels to ensure that both sets of brakes are applied at the same time. A malfunctioning combination valve can result in wheel lockup. The professionals at Elgin Auto Clinic will check that the combination valve in your car is operating correctly to protect you.

The disk rotors and drums that brake pads and shoes push against are made of metal, although the pads and shoes themselves might be ceramic, metallic, or organic. Pads and shoes wear down gradually over time and may eventually wear away entirely because they generate friction to stop the car. This causes the metal of the calipers and cylinders to which they are attached to grind against the rotors and drums, damaging them. Some models come with a metal strip attached to the brake pad that sounds an alert when the pad wears too much. However, this strip only activates when the car is moving and the brakes are not engaged. We will check the condition of your brake pads during your brake inspection.
